were taken from the August/September 1998 edition of Security Dealer Magazine.
The average loss per home burglary is $1,350.00
according to 1996 Uniform Crime Report, U.S. Dept. of Justice.
Virtually all – 97% of homeowners who
have a security system believe they are effective against home break-ins. This information
derived from survey of 40,000 homes in 1998.
Major insurance companies were surveyed to
determine discounts provided when the home has a monitored security system installed.
Discounts range between 10-20%. (check with your carrier.)
Homes without alarms are nearly three
times more likely to broken into according to a 1991 study.
